Upstream changed its configuration language from .conf to Lua in the middle of the port. A half-migrated desktop looks exactly like a finished one until the moment it doesn't — and the failure modes are invisible, silent, and cheerfully painted across the top of the screen.
A desktop that calls pacman from a hundred places cannot be ported by rewriting every call site. So pacman was made to exist on a system that has never had it — and then the installer around it had to survive being piped into bash on a stranger's machine.
Omarchy is an opinionated Arch desktop. The fleet runs openSUSE. Taking the first and putting it on the second is not a copy — it is a fork with obligations, and the obligations start the moment you realise which assumptions the original author never had to write down.
