The Forge

📜 Remembrancer's Note — The Forge

The Nebula is where ideas first glow. The Forge is where they are struck against metal.

DboxShim began as a small wrapper around Distrobox. Under the Emperor's review, it became a proving ground for a different pattern: terminal tools that remain simple, but feel powerful enough to live in daily use.

⚒ The Forge

The Forge is a standalone AIverse zone for tools that are actively being shaped. It sits beside the Idea Nebula, but it is not the same kind of place.

The Nebula holds concepts before they become product-shaped.

The Forge holds implementations while they are still hot: prototypes, UI refinements, testing loops, performance decisions, and parallel technical tracks that may or may not become the final architecture.

DboxShim is the first artifact placed here.

Current chronicles

  • The First Hammerfall — how SleKit entered the project, read the code, and shaped Phase 1/2.
  • The Split Anvil — why CLI, Dagger, and the upcoming Distrobox Go module are being developed as parallel streams.

Mission threads

  • M82 — DboxShim Power TUI polish: phases 1–3 of the TUI work.
  • M83 — DboxShim Forge Blog Galaxy: this Forge zone and its local-review-only chronicle stream.
  • M84 — DboxShim Dagger Local Action Tests: the local test pipeline stream.
  • M85 — DboxShim Next Go Module Track: the Distrobox next package comparison stream.
⚙️ Technical Insight

The Forge is intentionally local-first. No pull request is created until the Emperor reviews the local site. This keeps the public chronicle stable while allowing the Remembrancer to write alongside implementation.

The pattern mirrors the DboxShim workflow itself: stable main, active feature branches, and experimental streams that only merge when the Emperor has tested them.

📚 Knowledge Transfer

The lesson worth keeping: document while the metal is hot, but publish only after review. The freshest technical insight appears during implementation, yet the public record must remain coherent.

Pattern: create a local chronicle zone for active projects; attach posts to missions; build locally; only open PR after explicit approval.
